Spring Clean-Up Day 2019

Save-the-date! Our annual Spring Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2019. This is an opportunity for our community to get together and spruce things up a bit around the neighborhood and to gather for some fellowship, food, and beverages afterwards. Clean-up activities will be from 10 to 11 and food and fun will be 11 to 12. Rain date May 18th. More details in this Clean-Up Day Flyer.

Bulk Trash Pickup

American Disposal Services provides curbside pickup for furniture and other large non-metallic household items (not to exceed 2 cubic yards total in volume or up to three items per week) on Friday.  There is an extra charge for special pickups that exceed 2 cubic yards total in volume, including more than ten bundles of tree limbs and branches, and for the pickup of ferrous metals/white goods such as stoves, refrigerators (all CFC’s should be removed prior to pick-up), washers, dryers, hot water tanks, and other bulky metallic items.  Special pickups need to be scheduled with Customer Service at 703-368-0500 in advance.

Route 29 Widening Impacts

VDOT Illustration of the widening of Route 29 (Lee Highway)

Clifton Crest residents need to be aware that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is moving forward with a major road project that will impact our community in the coming years. Route 29 (Lee Highway) will be widened from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and have a 10′-wide pedestrian/bike path on either side. This widening will extend from Union Mill Road to Buckley’s Gate Drive (near the Fairfax County Parkway). An aqueduct will be built to carry Little Rocky Run under Lee Highway to prevent the recurring flooding.

Impacts:   In addition to the general impact of the construction, there will be impacts on northbound Clifton Road and southbound Stringfellow Road. In both cases the road will be widened to allow for double (and longer) left turn lanes. Additionally, there is the possibility that a soundwall will be built on the Clifton Crest side of Lee Highway (and elsewhere) to mitigate the noise of increased and closer traffic. That determination will be made during the detailed design phase that is now underway. The HOA is attempting to learn more about this part of the project.

More Information: This link on the VDOT site has more information about the project.

2019 Annual HOA Meeting

Jan 26 Update: Clifton Crest HOA board members will be knocking on doors in the community and asking for proxies from homeowners who won’t be attending the meeting. In order to conduct the meeting we must have the votes or proxies of at least 20% of the homeowners. Essential activities like trash pickup and common grounds maintenance depend on achieving this quorum, so please consider providing your proxy. You can provide a proxy ‘for quorum purposes only’.

By now all Clifton Crest homeowners should have received official notice in the mail of the 2019 Annual HOA Meeting to be held Thursday, January 31st at 7 p.m. The mail packet included the agenda for the meeting, a proxy form for those who won’t be attending, and a copy of the minutes from last year’s annual meeting. All homeowners are welcome to attend!

Directions:

The meeting will be held at the offices of Capitol Property Management located at 3914 Centerville Rd, Suite 300, Chantilly, Virginia. To get there from Clifton Crest, proceed north on Stringfellow Road to Lee Jackson Memorial Highway (Route 50). Turn left to go northwest on Route 50. Just beyond the Lowe’s store turn right onto Metrotech Drive. Follow Metrotech Drive around the curve and then turn left onto southbound Centreville Road. The second building on your right (which also houses a PNC bank) will be the Capitol Property Management office building. Park in front of the building. Note that because Centreville Road is divided you can only get to the building driving southbound. You can view the location here on Google Maps.
