Bulk Trash Pickup

American Disposal Services provides curbside pickup for furniture and other large non-metallic household items (not to exceed 2 cubic yards total in volume or up to three items per week) on Friday.  There is an extra charge for special pickups that exceed 2 cubic yards total in volume, including more than ten bundles of tree limbs and branches, and for the pickup of ferrous metals/white goods such as stoves, refrigerators (all CFC’s should be removed prior to pick-up), washers, dryers, hot water tanks, and other bulky metallic items.  Special pickups need to be scheduled with Customer Service at 703-368-0500 in advance.

Route 29 Widening Impacts

VDOT Illustration of the widening of Route 29 (Lee Highway)

Clifton Crest residents need to be aware that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is moving forward with a major road project that will impact our community in the coming years. Route 29 (Lee Highway) will be widened from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and have a 10′-wide pedestrian/bike path on either side. This widening will extend from Union Mill Road to Buckley’s Gate Drive (near the Fairfax County Parkway). An aqueduct will be built to carry Little Rocky Run under Lee Highway to prevent the recurring flooding.

Impacts:   In addition to the general impact of the construction, there will be impacts on northbound Clifton Road and southbound Stringfellow Road. In both cases the road will be widened to allow for double (and longer) left turn lanes. Additionally, there is the possibility that a soundwall will be built on the Clifton Crest side of Lee Highway (and elsewhere) to mitigate the noise of increased and closer traffic. That determination will be made during the detailed design phase that is now underway. The HOA is attempting to learn more about this part of the project.
