VDOT Acquisition of Clifton Crest HOA Property

As part of the project to widen Route 29, the Virginia Department of Transportation has contacted the Clifton Crest HOA concerning acquiring some HOA property bordering the highway.  They have proposed to pay the HOA $115,010.00 for the property rights.  We have engaged an attorney to review this offer to determine how best to proceed.

It is unlikely that we could stop this acquisition (if we were so inclined) since VDOT can use eminent domain power to take the land, but we want to make sure we protect the HOA’s and homeowner interests in the best way possible and ensure that we are dealt with fairly.

We will providing further information as circumstances warrant.  We are posting a copy of the VDOT offer letter and two drawings (first, second) that show the land in question.
