The meeting will be held at the offices of our management company, Capitol Property Management. The address is 3914 Centreville Rd Ste 300, Chantilly, Virginia. Further details including the agenda and a proxy form can be found in the 2020 Annual Meeting Packet.

This is your chance to discuss HOA matters and make your voice heard. This is also an opportunity to meet your HOA Board members and run for a seat on the Board if you wish.

Homeowners are encouraged to attend in person. If you will not be attending the meeting, please complete a proxy form and give it to a Board member or another person who will be attending the meeting. We must have sufficient attendance in person or by proxy to establish a quorum in order to hold the meeting.

Recycling Update – No Glass!

Fairfax County is no longer accepting glass items collected through curbside recycling collections such as we have in Clifton Crest. Glass items tend to break in transit and contaminate all the other recyclables. If you still want to recycle glass, you must take the glass yourself to designated Fairfax County sites. More information and drop site locations can be found here.

Below is updated information from our trash and recycling contractor (American Disposal Services) about what and how to recycle:

Route 29 Widening Update

VDOT has begun a project to widen about 1.5 miles of Route 29 (Lee Highway) from Union Mill Rd. to Buckleys Gate Dr. in Fairfax County. The project aims to relieve congestion and improve operations and safety. The project is currently in preliminary design. VDOT is holding a public meeting to allow residents to provide feedback and comments on the design under consideration. The meeting will be held Monday, June 10, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at VDOT’s facility at 4975 Alliance Drive, Potomac Room, Fairfax, VA 22030.

If you are unable to attend the public hearing, materials, including the presentation and comment sheet are available at this VDOT link. You may also email comments to meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov. Please include ‘Route 29 Widening” in the subject line.

For additional information about the project, see this earlier post.

Route 29 Widening Impacts

VDOT Illustration of the widening of Route 29 (Lee Highway)

Clifton Crest residents need to be aware that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is moving forward with a major road project that will impact our community in the coming years. Route 29 (Lee Highway) will be widened from 4 lanes to 6 lanes and have a 10′-wide pedestrian/bike path on either side. This widening will extend from Union Mill Road to Buckley’s Gate Drive (near the Fairfax County Parkway). An aqueduct will be built to carry Little Rocky Run under Lee Highway to prevent the recurring flooding.

Impacts:   In addition to the general impact of the construction, there will be impacts on northbound Clifton Road and southbound Stringfellow Road. In both cases the road will be widened to allow for double (and longer) left turn lanes. Additionally, there is the possibility that a soundwall will be built on the Clifton Crest side of Lee Highway (and elsewhere) to mitigate the noise of increased and closer traffic. That determination will be made during the detailed design phase that is now underway. The HOA is attempting to learn more about this part of the project.
